I want to know if I can claim rent, utilities, home and health insurance, internet service, phone, and food(children's meals) that I purchase on my taxes as a business expense?

If so I would like to know what percentage?

Answer

Here's where you want to look:

The home office deduction is somewhat complicated to compute. However, the IRS publications do walk you through it.

As far as health insurance, a self-employed person can claim a health insurance premium deduction if:

1. The are not eligible for health insurance under another employer's plan.

2. The total amount of health insurance premiums is less than the amount of self-employment income claimed.
