What is the difference between the two?
Answer
A tax ID is a more generic name for any 9-digit number used by the IRS to identify a taxpayer.
For an individual, your tax ID is usually your Social Security Number.
For a business, your tax ID is your EIN.
You should get an EIN for your LLC, and then when you are asked for your LLC's tax ID number, give them your EIN.
