DBA, LLC And EIN.

I had a DBA and EIN I never used. The DBA has long since expired but now I want to form a LLC under the same name. Can I use the old EIN or do I need to apply for a new one?

Answer

Whatever entity the DBA was for (I'm assuming it was for your own name) and the new LLC you are forming are separate entities.

Therefore, the new LLC requires its own employer identification number (EIN).
