can I insure multiple LLC's under the same general liability policy.

I have multiple rental properties I want to put on one insurance policy. Can I do that?

Answer

Ask your insurance agent about this one. I'm not sure what their policies are regarding multiple entities on a single policy.

One of the questions we get all the time as a commercial agent is, "Can I insure all of my LLC's on one policy?"

We typically do not insure them on one policy as most of our companies we have in our office do not allow this.

However, I do have a question.... If you do insure multiple LLC's on a single policy, does this now commingle the LLC's together and allow a lawsuit to access all of the LLC's assets collectively now?

Response
I doubt having a single CGL policy covering multiple LLCs would, by itself, be sufficient to pierce the veil between them.

Like you said, I've not seen many CGL policies covering multiple LLCs.

Maybe there are E&O or D&O policies that would cover a series LLC or group of related entities all with the same directors under a single policy, but that is a different question that you'd have to ask your broker.
