Montana LLC Name Requirements
Your corporate name must end with the words Limited Liability Company
or one of the following abbreviations: "LLC," "L.L.C.," "limited,"
"ltd.," "ltd". Montana also permits professional limited liability
companies, which allows businesses that perform professional services
to have limited liability status. Professional LLCs must have the words
"professional limited liability company" or an abbreviation in their
business name.

Foreign LLCs Operating in Montana
Montana law requires foreign Limited Liability Companies register for a
Certificate of Authority to transact business in Montana. The filing

Registered Agent
The registered agent may be an individual resident in this state or a
domestic or foreign corporation authorized to transact business in
Montana, having a business office identical with such registered
office. A company may not serve as its own registered agent. A member
of the LLC, however, who is a resident of Montana, may serve as the
registered agent.
